The IntelliLight® family of services have been designed to offer enhanced survivability options to Bell Atlantic's access customers while utilizing the SONET technology platform. The first two tariffed services include IntelliLight® Custom SONET Ring (ICSR) and IntelliLight® Dual Wire Center (IDWC).

IntelliLight® Custom SONET Ring (ICSR) is a premium service which provides customers with a dedicated, high capacity, customized, private network which interconnects multiple customer locations with the BA network and is dedicated to the transport of that customer's traffic. It is an effective option of the Network Assurance product line whereby the network is private and fully dedicated to the user. In this way, survivability is assured in the event of a facility and/or SONET based equipment failures. It is designed for those customers having typically more than one DS3 or equivalent of service and who can define a community of interest within which communications must be utterly reliable.

ICSR is an IntelliLight® Service, supported by BA's One-Minute Service Guarantee. This guarantee warrants that any service outage greater than one minute due solely to a Company facility failure will result in a credit of 100% of the monthly rate for the applicable rate elements of the affected service, including the underlying service (i.e., - DS1 or DS3). However, it is important to note that the customer's traffic is only protected while traversing the IntelliLight® ring(s). Once the service leaves the ring(s), the prevailing SASG (Special Access Service Guarantee) then applies. To highlight this further, a DS3 carries the standard four-hour service guarantee. The same DS3 can be further protected with a one-minute service guarantee if a) it rides an ICSR, or b) the DS3 is combined with IDWC.
